News: Man collapses and dies at Standard Chartered Marathon

A 22-year-old runner collapsed and died after competing in the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore this morning.

The athlete, whom organisers declined to name, was participating in the half-marathon (21km) category.

According to organisers, the Chinese man collapsed at the finish line at the Padang at approximately 8.30am. He was attended to immediately and subsequently sent to the Singapore General Hospital.

The hospital said he died at 9.30am. The family has since been notified.
