SMRT chief executive officer Saw Phaik Hwa has resigned on Friday, say sources.
Her resignation comes less than a month after SMRT suffered two of the worst breakdowns in its 24-year-history.
The public listed company issued a statement to the Stock Exchange of Singapore on Friday.
Current board member, Tan Ek Kia, 62, will 'assume interim executive responsibility of the management of SMRT while the Board [of Directors] conducts a search for a new CEO,' according to a statement by SMRT.
