Disneyfest a short intro video
There a lot of rumours about disney building a disneyland in singapore. Actually the rumours are truth. They plan it in 1990s but it seem not feasible as singapore too small to build 1. So in 1995 they decide to bring the once famous disney fair that goes around the US major cities. It died out due to low attendance so instead of just closed down and get rid of the fair. They decide to try again. Rename Disneyfest( there a disneyfest in 2012 but it different event altogether). A new company name Disney entertaiment project (asia pacific) inc was founded. Based in singapore. It take 2 years from 1995-1997 for the project to take shape. Disneyfest was suppose to be on tour to major asian cities but it faded away with 2nd and last stop at Taiwan.
There not much news why it ends. But it depend on attendance to substand. Even the company no longer exist.
The show in singapore was held in Oct to Dec 1997 during school holidays. I went once when i was 12( guess you know my age now). It doesnt have much carnival rides. A bit lame compare to escape theme park (though it closed down too). It has two big tent which has a stadium seating for disney show and one has a playground type of attraction which is like jump castle type(the one users air to pump big). When you are small you like it but now you think back it is LAME.
Though small you can spend whole day!
I forget to say. The area they build is at Marina bay. The area which is now marina bay sands.
I found 3 videos on youtube showing the making and the show. Currently no pictures but i will continue to search. It also on hippo and mei i show. A old kids show on premiere 12.
Here the videos. Click the link
There few disneyfest item on sale on ebay and online. Thinking of getting it but i guess i see if worth.
Really wish there a disneyland here. Our goverment doesnt think own a theme park is worth it -.-
